Describe the actual job

Start with location, the type and number of horses or facilities involved, timing, access, and the outcome you need. A farrier appointment, a regular transport route, a boarding arrangement, and a farm technology installation need different information. A useful request tells the provider what they need to assess rather than asking for a price with no scope.

02

Confirm fit before comparing prices

Ask about the provider’s service area, relevant experience, availability, qualifications where applicable, and appropriate references. Verify any claimed professional license or accreditation with its issuer. Ask about insurance that is relevant to the proposed work. A directory profile is an introduction, not a recommendation or a guarantee, and a claimed profile verifies account authority rather than service quality.

03

Put responsibilities in writing

Compare the same scope across quotes: what is included, what is excluded, who provides materials or care, scheduling, payment terms, and how changes are approved. Ask who handles an interruption, an emergency, or a complaint. For ongoing services, establish how records and updates will be delivered and who can authorize work on your behalf.

04

Help keep the connection accurate

If an address, public telephone number, or website is outdated, submit a correction with an official source. Business representatives can request to claim an existing profile; administrators review evidence of authority before approval. Avoid placing private client or horse information into a public profile. The goal is an accurate way to reach the right people, supported by clear sourcing and responsible updates.

Common questions

Does “claimed” mean endorsed?

No. It means an account has been approved to represent the directory entry. It does not rate or guarantee the service.

Can I suggest someone else’s business?

Yes. Submit public business information and its official source for review. Only an authorized representative should claim the profile.
