Original educational guide · Sources checked October 23, 2026Start with the track and its racing office
Confirm the official race meeting, stall arrangements, entry procedures, shipping instructions, and arrival hours directly with the receiving facility. Save the racing-office and stable-area contacts separately. A ticket-office number may not answer a horsemen’s operational question. Read the actual condition book or condition sheet for the intended race rather than relying on an announcement about the meeting.
Build the local support team
Use the directory to shortlist veterinarians, farriers, feed and bedding suppliers, transport providers, and training facilities. Ask each provider where they work, what availability they have, how to reach them after hours, and whether they can serve your particular facility. A public directory listing establishes a contact route; it does not verify quality, insurance, current capacity, or suitability for a specific horse.
Confirm requirements with the authorities involved
Check the racing commission, receiving track, relevant breed registry, and applicable racing authority for current requirements. Verify licenses, identification, paperwork, and any health or entry documentation with the people responsible for them. Do not assume a requirement from one breed, state, or track applies unchanged to another. The USTA horsemen’s portal organizes harness racing resources including condition sheets and stakes information.
Keep a practical arrival sheet
Record your destination, agreed arrival time, named receiving contact, horse identification, transporter contact, and where required documents are held. Confirm who meets the horse and who is responsible for care on arrival. Ask about access, unloading, feed delivery, and emergency procedures before departure. Our directory is still growing; if a number or service is missing, request an addition instead of guessing.

Common questions
Can I rely on a directory phone number alone?
Call ahead and confirm the person, service area, and current availability. Source dates help, but staffing and contact details change.
Does Racehorse Connect cover every facility?
Not yet. State filters are available nationwide, while researched coverage is still expanding. Missing results do not mean no facility or provider exists.
